Hall retires and rehires as Superintendent of Bellefontaine City Schools

The Bellefontaine City Schools Board of Education met Monday to discuss the resignation and retirement of Superintendent Brad Hall. Moments after approving his retirement, the board unanimously chose to re-hire Hall as the school district’s superintendent through the 2026-27 school year.

Hall spent the past 11 years in the district’s top office and feels he has more to give to the local schools.

Bellefontaine High School Band Director Ken Hoffman spoke about a proposed band trip to Nashville set for April 1st-4th, 2026. Hoffman said band members would perform at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Studio B. Students would also visit other music venues in the city. The trip will cost about $525 per student. The board will consider approving the trip at a future meeting.

In other news, the board got their first look at the school calendars for ’25-’26 & ’26-’27. Both calendars are similar to this school year. Classes will start in early September and conclude by Memorial Day. The board is expected to approve the calendars at the April board meeting.

In personnel, the board accepted the following resignations:

  • Joanna Arthur – Food Service Worker (Retiring on June 1st)
  • Kimberly Bell – Food Service Worker (Retiring on June 1st)
  • Lisa Legge – Food Service Worker (Retiring on June 1st)
  • Beth Barrett – Media Aide
  • Patricia St. Clair – Secretary

The following hires were approved:

  • Patricia St. Clair – Substitute Teacher
  • Miles Pickering – Substitute Teacher
  • Alexis Kendall – Speech Pathologist
  • Krista Adelsberger – Communications Coordinator (part-time)
  • Beth Barrett – Secretary
  • Terry Headings – 2nd Shift Custodian
  • Chandler Martell – Educational Aide
  • Kim Brown, Chandler Martell, and Hannah Stidham were approved as home/school tutors.

The following substitute appointment was approved:

  • Ava Huffman – Educational Aide

These volunteer coaches were approved:

  • Jim Ball – High School Tennis
  • Jacob Chrysler – High School Baseball
Claire Grandstaff and Brody Boy

Finally, the board recognized March Seniors of the Month Claire Grandstaff and Brody Boy. They each received an achievement pin and a $15 gift card to Ron’s Pizza.

The next board meeting will be April 14th at 6:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Center.
