On the morning of Thursday, September 25, just before 7:40 a.m., troopers from the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash at the intersection of State Route 560 and Old Troy Pike.
According to the investigation, 59-year-old James Laforge of Urbana was driving a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Old Troy Pike. After initially stopping at the intersection, Laforge proceeded forward and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
At that time, 53-year-old Rebecca Buchanan, also of Urbana, was driving a 2017 Subaru Outback southbound on state Route 560. As Buchanan passed through the intersection, her vehicle struck the front of Laforge’s truck in a head-on collision.
Following the impact, both vehicles went off the west side of State Route 560.
Laforge was not injured. Buchanan was taken by ambulance to Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital with minor injuries.
Troopers determined Laforge was at fault for the crash and cited him for failing to yield at a stop sign.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
