The heat wave continues according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
The heat and humidity are expected to continue into the weekend with the heat index over 100 degrees.
A few storms may develop this afternoon, generally north and west of Dayton.
Any storm that does form will have the potential to produce strong to damaging wind gusts from a downburst.
Our region last saw this longest stretch of 90-degree temperatures in 2012.
Temperatures could drop below 90 degrees on Monday but are expected to return on Tuesday.
