A Russells Point man is now facing multiple charges, including a felony, after a fight outside Buckeye at the Lake restaurant in Lakeview Saturday evening.

Deputies were called to the restaurant shortly after 5:00 PM for a report of a fight involving several people.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived, they found a crowd in the parking lot and two men with injuries.

One of the men involved, identified as 49-year-old Shawn Hendricks, appeared intoxicated and was yelling at others on the scene.

He ignored commands to stop and was detained.

Witnesses said Hendricks got out of a parked vehicle and attacked two men, unprovoked.

Employees said they tried to step in, and one woman said Hendricks threatened her when she told him to leave.

Another man stepped between them to protect her.

During the arrest, Hendricks resisted being searched and struggled to get into the cruiser.

Once at the Logan County Jail, he continued to ignore commands and had to be placed in a restraint chair.

At first, Hendricks was charged with assault, menacing, and disorderly conduct.

The next day, one of the victims contacted deputies and said he had been diagnosed with a fractured vertebra in his neck.

He was treated at Mary Rutan Hospital and then transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

With the severity of the injury, a new charge of felonious assault has been added to Hendricks’ list of charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
