A high-speed traffic stop on US 33 near State Route 292 early Saturday morning led to the arrest of a man for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies saw a white Honda Accord traveling westbound at 90 mph, swerving outside its lane and crossing the center line and fog line multiple times.
When deputies stopped the Honda just after 4:00 AM, the driver, Cody Hawkins, 30, of Bellefontaine, showed several signs of impairment.
Hawkins admitted to drinking two beers before driving and failed several field sobriety tests.
During a breathalyzer test at the jail, Hawkins registered a BAC of .146 g/210L, nearly twice the legal limit.
Hawkins was cited for OVI and is scheduled to appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court.
