The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle crash that turned fatal on Sunday.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:24 AM on US 33 in Union County.

A 2024 Honda CBR, 600 motorcycle operated by Jacob Z. Rhonehouse, 33, of Marysville, was traveling southeast on US 33.

A 2017 Chevrolet Spark operated by Jonathan H. Wallace, 67, of Springfield, was southeast on US 33.

Rhonehouse was attempting to pass between Wallace and another vehicle that was also southeast-bound on US 33, and struck the Chevrolet from behind.

Rhonehouse was ejected from his motorcycle and into the roadway.

The Chevrolet traveled off the right side of the roadway, overturned several times, and struck a ditch.

Both drivers sustained serious injuries from the crash.

Rhonehouse was flown from the scene to Grant Medical Center by Med-Flight.

Wallace was transported by the Allen Township Fire Department to Union County Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Ohio State University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Allen Township Fire Department, and Med-Flight.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, and both drivers were wearing their appropriate safety equipment, belts, and helmets.

The crash remains under investigation.
