RWE and Hillclimber Solar welcomed the communities in Champaign County on Wednesday evening for an open house designed to engage with the community, share information, and answer questions about the proposed solar project.

A map of the proposed project can be seen below. It will span approximately 1,100 acres in an area about 5 miles south of Urbana, just south of State Route 29.

The event gave residents the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from both RWE and Hillclimber Solar, who provided updates on project timelines, land use, environmental impact, and potential benefits to the local economy.

Informational displays and maps were available for attendees to review, and team members were on hand to discuss how the project would be integrated into the surrounding landscape.

Projector Director Hackett Landefeld was present at this event and spoke on his conversations with the community about the upcoming project and the next steps in the process.

Another open house is scheduled to take place in Brown Ridge Hall, located at 220 E Court Street, within the remainder of the calendar year.

The Hillclimber Solar project is part of RWE’s broader commitment to expanding renewable energy production in Ohio.

Company officials noted that the project aims to support local tax revenues and provide clean, sustainable energy for years to come.
