The Logan County Historical Society and History Center are asking for the continued support of the community with a 0.25-mill replacement operating levy on the May 6th, 2025 ballot.
This five-year levy maintains and improves the services the Society and History Center offers to residents, students, and visitors.
It will help the organization continue to educate and engage the people of Logan County through exhibits, school tours, special events, historic presentations, and more.
The 0.25-mill levy will cost homeowners with a home valued at $100,000 approximately $9 a year.
As the levy slogan states, “It costs so little to save so much!”
Todd McCormick, Curator/Director talks about the levy and other things going on at the Society:
The levy funds will also support ongoing upkeep and improvements to the History Center’s facilities, including the 1906 Orr Mansion, the Logan County Museum, and the Logan County Transportation Museum.
These venues house and preserve the county’s rich history and provide educational opportunities to the public.
The Logan County Historical Society also relies on the levy to maintain and grow its extensive programming.
This includes bi-monthly meetings, presentations to local groups, school tours, and programs for local students.
In the 2023-2024 school year, nearly 1,000 students participated in local history instruction through the Society’s programs.
The exact wording on ballots will be, “A replacement of a tax for the benefit of Logan County for the purpose of Historical Society that the county auditor estimates will collect $390,000 annually, at a rate not exceeding 0.25 mill for each $1 of taxable value, which amounts to $9 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s appraised value, for 5 years, commencing in 2025, first due in
calendar year 2026.”
Early in-person voting begins April 8th.
