The Logan County History Center is preparing to welcome the community for its annual holiday event, Christmas at the History Center, which will take place over two weekends in December. The event will be held on December 7th and 8th and December 14th and 15th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Special evening hours are also scheduled for Friday, December 13th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Throughout the open house, visitors will be treated to a display of beautifully decorated Christmas trees and rooms. The Orr Mansion, including the museum hallways and the first floor, will feature displays created by local schoolchildren, community groups, and organizations. The second floor and ballroom will be decorated by the History Center Christmas Committee.
Live music will be featured daily, with performances by local groups and musicians. Highlights include piano students from Leanna George, Paula Deardurff, and Shirley McPherson, the Bellefontaine High School Jazz Band and Show Choir, the Mad River Dulcimer Society, and other local performers such as Mary’s Turbo Accordion Express and flutists Marianne Antrim and Carol Burton.
The event is designed to be family-friendly and offers a unique opportunity to experience the charm of the Logan County History Center dressed in its holiday finest. The trees and rooms will take on a special glow after dark, making the evening hours particularly enchanting.
Christmas at the History Center is free to the public, with donations encouraged to support the museum’s ongoing programs. A full schedule of musical performances will be released soon.
