Holiday Distribution Update: Second Harvest Food Bank Announces New Approach to Food Boxes

As the holiday season approaches, Second Harvest Food Bank is excited to announce a shift in its distribution strategy to better serve local families in need.

This year, the organization will be offering Inflation Relief Food Boxes instead of traditional holiday boxes.

This change is designed to provide more flexibility and support for families during this crucial time.

The Inflation Relief Food Boxes are crafted to meet the diverse needs of families, allowing them to plan their holiday meals without being limited to a specific menu.

This versatility is particularly important as many families face challenges with rising food costs.

In addition to supporting holiday meal planning, these boxes will also assist families during school breaks when children are home and require additional meals.

This approach not only ensures that families have access to essential food items but also empowers them to make choices that best suit their unique situations.

Distribution Schedule:
To ensure a smooth distribution process, families are asked to attend only the county distribution where they reside. A limit of one proxy per household is allowed.

  • November 25th: 11 AM – 1 PM at Logan County Fairgrounds
  • December 6th: 10 AM – 12 PM at Champaign County Fairgrounds

Second Harvest Food Bank is committed to supporting the community during these challenging times and hopes that this new approach to food distribution will provide much-needed relief for families this holiday season.
