The Holland Theatre in downtown Bellefontaine is turning up the brightness—literally.

Thanks to generous community support, the historic venue has installed a powerful new 16,000-lumen laser projector, nearly four times brighter than its previous model.

The upgrade delivers a major boost in picture quality for both movies and live performances.

To celebrate, the Holland is hosting a free screening of the classic film Field of Dreams on Friday, August 8 at 7 p.m.

The public is invited to attend and see the new projection system in action.

The new equipment was made possible by donations and a successful fundraiser held last fall.

Key supporters included Pat Ortli, William Connell, Steve and Kay Spath, and the estate of Judy Grubbs.

Holland board member Mike Suman led the search for the right system and helped secure it at a discounted price.

Mark Amidon built and installed a custom mount for the projector.

Interim director Jason Vogel said the upgrade will improve regular movie nights, support nonprofit partnerships, and meet the tech needs of touring artists.

Everyone who donated or took part in the fundraiser will be recognized during the Field of Dreams showing.
