On the first day of 2026, John Huffman officially assumed office as the elected mayor of Russells Point.

Logan County Commissioner Greg Fitzpatrick presided over the swearing-in ceremony.

Huffman had been serving as appointed mayor since October 7, 2024, following the retirement of long-time Mayor Robin Reames, who had led the village since 2012.

During his appointed tenure, Huffman oversaw day-to-day operations and worked closely with village officials to ensure continuity in local government.

“I was surprised when he (Huffman) asked and honored to do it,” Fitzpatrick said about administering the oath.

Elected in November 2025, Huffman ran unopposed and will serve a two-year term.

At the ceremony, he expressed gratitude to the community for their support and pledged to continue building on the initiatives started under Reames’ leadership.
