According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, early Thursday morning, around 1:30 AM, icy road conditions caused a semi to jackknife on US 33 in Jefferson Township, blocking the roadway for a period of time.
The driver, Jingshi Fang, 52, of Hacienda Heights, CA, was uninjured in the crash.
Despite the challenging driving conditions, Fang avoided injury, and the semi was eventually cleared from the roadway.
Wednesday night, Logan County Sheriff’s deputies reported another weather-related incident.
David Cavinder, 36, of Quincy, lost control of his pickup truck on an ice-covered bridge on State Route 235 just north of Township Road 229.
His truck and trailer spun out of control and struck the guardrail on the northbound side of the roadway.
Fortunately, Cavinder and his juvenile passenger were not injured in the crash.
Cavinder was cited for failure to control.
The icy conditions have made driving hazardous throughout the area and multiple crashes have been reported through much of Thursday.
