A two-vehicle crash on icy roadways sent one person to the hospital Monday morning in Champaign County.
According to a report from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:36 a.m. March 2 to the intersection of West U.S. Route 29 and West State Route 296 northwest of Urbana.
Investigators determined a 2023 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Julien Ambroise, 47, of Springfield, was turning eastbound off U.S. 29 onto State Route 296 when the vehicle traveled too fast for the road conditions. The Toyota slid on ice and snow and struck a 1998 Honda Civic driven by Garret Talbot, 24, of North Lewisburg.
Talbot was transported by Urbana EMS to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana for treatment of a possible neck injury. Ambroise was not reported injured.
The Toyota sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Dan’s Towing. The Honda also sustained damage in the crash.
Ambroise was cited for failure to control.
