The Indian Lake Board of Education met Thursday night to review ongoing summer improvements and take action on several items ahead of the 2025-26 school year.

The meeting began with recognition of recent graduate Ava Faler, who competed in the high jump at the 2025 OHSAA State Track Meet.

Earlier in the year, she placed fourth in the triple jump at the State Indoor Meet.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood updated the board on campus projects.

Construction of the new bus transportation facility remains on track for completion in August.

The old bus garage is being converted into a new weight room for student-athletes, and the wrestling room expansion is also underway.

The board accepted a $15,000 donation from Mary Rutan Health to outfit the new weight room with equipment.

Board members also voted to continue offering free student athletic passes for the upcoming school year.

The program began last year and will again be included in the district’s budget.

Additionally, the board approved the hiring of Dan Young as the new Ohio Hi-Point Agriculture/FFA Advisor at Indian Lake High School.

Young, a longtime physical education teacher at the elementary level, brings agricultural experience to the role.

Meal prices will remain unchanged for the 2025-26 school year.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Office.
