The Indian Lake Board of Education approved several supplemental contracts, acknowledged excellent athletes, and accepted one key retirement during their regular April Board of Education meeting.
To start the meeting, Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood recognized both senior Stephanie Altstaetter and junior Caiden Nicol for their athletic success. Both were named Third Team All-Ohio in basketball this season.
The board voted to hire several coaches and advisors for the 2023-24 school year (full list below). They also hired a new third-grade language arts teacher (Hannah Kilgore). In addition, they accepted the retirement of longtime social studies teacher Doug Reprogle.
Mr. Reprogle is a dedicated Laker who impacted the lives of many young people, including Dr. Underwood himself. “I actually student-taught under Mr. Reprogle when I was in college. He was the reason why I wanted to be a teacher and he was definitely the reason why I wanted to come to Indian Lake,” Underwood continued. “It’s bittersweet. He spent 33 years at Indian Lake and 35 total years in education. He’s just touched so many students and members of our community and he’s definitely going to be missed. We wish him well in retirement.”
Finally, the board entered into an agreement with House of Security to install doors and locks at ILMS and ILHS.
The Indian Lake Board of Education will meet again on Monday, May 15th at 6:30 pm in the board office.
