The Indian Lake Board of Education recognized student achievement and approved district business during its regular meeting on Monday evening.

Board members honored Indian Lake Elementary School fourth grader Addalee Claybaugh, who has been named a National Math Star.

Last spring, ILES Co-Principal Molly Hall nominated Claybaugh and several classmates to take a math achievement test.

Her outstanding score qualified her for consideration in the National Math Stars program.

Over the summer, she and her family completed an intensive interview and testing process, leading to her selection as part of this year’s highly selective class.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood explained the long-term impact of the award:

“As a result, Addalee is going to receive 10 years of support including personal math mentoring, advanced coursework opportunities, STEM summer camps and much more. She’s actually headed to Houston next month to meet with the rest of the National Math Star award winners, so we’re just extremely proud of her and the bright future that she has ahead of her.”

Addie is the daughter of Brian and Cierra Claybaugh of Jackson Center.

Dr. Underwood also reported that the Ohio Department of Education has released its State Report Card for districts.

Indian Lake Schools once again led Logan County in academic achievement, earning an overall score of 4 out of 5.

“We’re still going over some of that data, but we’re proud of our staff and our students for another job well done. We scored a 5 out of 5 on graduation and we’re above the state average in almost every tested category,” Underwood said.

Treasurer Brady Hipsher presented his first five-year forecast since replacing Coleen Reprogle.

He reported the district is in good financial standing but noted that changes to Ohio’s tax structure could impact school funding in the future.

The Board approved the following donations:

    • $185 from the Women of the Moose to the school lunch program.
    • $12,000 from the Indian Lake Football Club to the football program.
    • $12,973.72 from the Indian Lake Fraternal Order of Eagles to the Charitable/Gaming Donation Fund.

Supplemental contracts were approved for:

    • Cory Whitlow – E-Sports Advisor
    • Amanda Fulkerson – ILPDC Chair
    • Jason Fauley – Marching Band Director
    • Morissa Sweeney – Marching Band Director
    • Kasandera Crockett– Assistant Marching Band Director

Finally, the board approved the following student trips:

  • Overnight FFA National Convention trip to Indianapolis, October 29–31, 2025
  • Europe trip through EF Tours, June 1–12, 2027

The next regular Board of Education meeting will be Monday, October 20, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Board of Education Office in Lewistown.
