The Indian Lake Board of Education toured new projects on campus and recognized board leaders during the October regular meeting on Monday evening.
Indian Lake Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood presented both Board President Gabe Wickline and Vice President Chad Ross with 10-year awards from the Ohio School Boards Association.

Both Wickline and Ross are ILHS graduates who give back to their community in many ways, including serving on the local school board.
In regular business, board members discussed the many bills being considered at the state level that may impact school funding.
No official action was taken.

Immediately after the meeting, Dr. Underwood led board members through the brand new Bus Garage and Maintenance Facility on campus, just south of Indian Lake Middle School.
Dr. Underwood explains that the building, which includes bus bays to protect vehicles from the weather and theft, an expanded mechanics shop, and inside equipment storage, has been in use since school began, but crews are still completing some final punch list items inside.
“It’s just been a great facility for our staff. They are very appreciative of being able to park their buses inside and do those pre-trip inspections out of the weather. And it’s been really nice for the mechanics who are able to service our buses and really save the district a significant amount of money,” said Underwood.
Board members also checked out the newly expanded wrestling facility at Indian Lake High School.
Crews are still working to install new wall mats and then lay out the new wrestling floor mats.
Earlier this year, the ILHS weight room was moved to a separate building that was the former Bus Garage.
The weight room space was then renovated to become part of the wrestling facility, nearly doubling the space for that growing program.
The next IL Board of Education meeting is set for Monday, November 24th, at 5 pm.
