Monday night, the Indian Lake Board of Education reviewed standard operating procedures during its regular March meeting, while also taking action on a variety of district matters.

Board members approved several policy revisions, along with the annual FFA trip to the State Convention scheduled for April. The board also accepted a number of donations benefiting the district.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood highlighted the importance of the district’s Business Advisory Council (BAC), which brings together school administrators and local business leaders to help better prepare students for the workforce.

“Specifically, we just hosted the Career Expo here at Indian Lake High School with 70 or 80 local businesses, so that’s a great event for our students. The BAC is also in charge of the Career Speaker Series for our College and Career Readiness students and they highlight the 3E approach to life after high school.”

Underwood continued, “We’re really excited this year as it appears that Senator Jon Husted is going to be at Indian Lake for the 3E Signing Day in May.”

In personnel matters, the board accepted the resignation of Indian Lake High School science teacher Karen Cordova and Indian Lake Middle School special education teacher Randy Page.

The board also entered into a brief executive session to consider the employment of a public employee or official.

No action was taken following that session.

The Indian Lake Board of Education will meet again on Monday, April 20.
