Indian Lake Schools is mourning the unexpected loss of a sixth-grade student who passed away Sunday morning. The student was 11 years old and had joined the district at the start of the current school year, along with siblings.
School officials described the loss as tragic and said the student was part of a family with deep ties to the Indian Lake community, as the parents and stepparent are all Indian Lake graduates.
When students and staff return to school, Indian Lake Schools will have mental health and counseling support available to help those affected during this difficult period.
District leaders are encouraging students, staff, and community members to support one another and keep the family, along with the student’s friends and teachers, in their thoughts and prayers.
