The annual Ring of Fire at Indian Lake returns this Sunday, marking the end of summer and welcoming the start of fall.
An American Indian tradition inspires the event and has been celebrated at Indian Lake since 1965.
It began when board member A.M. Brown proposed a “Red Flare Spectacular” to then-Chamber President Warren Edwards.
At 9 p.m. sharp, 20,000 LED flares will light up the entire lake, creating a striking red glow on the water.
Amber Fagan, President of the Indian Lake Chamber, says volunteers from the Indian Lake High School Key Club will place and ignite the flares around key areas, including the spillway, bike path, Fox Island, and Old Field Beach.
Fagan talks about the event:
The Ring of Fire continues to be a much-loved tradition, drawing visitors and residents to celebrate the changing seasons.
