A familiar face to the Indian Lake community is stepping into a new role this fall.
JR Brenner, a 2011 graduate of Indian Lake High School, has been sworn in as the newest officer with the Washington Township Police Department and will serve as the School Resource Officer for Indian Lake Schools.
After graduating from Indian Lake, Brenner served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman from 2013 to 2020.
His interest in law enforcement began after completing the Citizens Police Academy with Washington Township, where he discovered a passion for the field.
Officer Brenner talks about the position and shares more about himself:
Officer Brenner joins Washington Township after previously serving with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Alongside him will be K9 Hondo, who will assist in serving both the Indian Lake Schools and the broader Washington Township community.
School officials and local law enforcement say they’re looking forward to the positive impact Brenner and Hondo will have on safety and community engagement.
Washington Township Police Chief Michael Thompson speaks about the position and why Brenner is the right fit:
