A Bellefontaine woman was cited after a crash with a mail truck Thursday afternoon on Township Road 147.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just before 1 p.m. on a narrow, downhill curve.

Jennifer Harte, 50, was driving a 2021 Nissan Titan northbound.

Domonique Wenger, 31, of West Liberty, was driving a 1994 Grumman mail truck southbound.

Both drivers told deputies they were staying in their lane.

According to the report, Wenger said she saw the pickup coming toward her left of center as she approached the curve.

She tried to move as far right as possible, but a hazard in the ditch kept her from going any farther.

She drove along the edge of the road and braked hard, but the vehicles still collided, hitting the front right side of the mail truck.

After the impact, her vehicle went off the road and traveled through the ditch before she was able to get back onto the roadway.

Harte said the road was narrow and claimed the mail truck hit her truck as both drivers tried to avoid each other.

With no witnesses, deputies relied on physical evidence at the scene.

They found tire marks showing the mail truck had moved as far right as possible and braked hard before the crash.

Debris from the vehicles was mostly located in the northbound lane.

Investigators also found marks showing Harte’s truck traveled off the right side of the road after the crash at an angle consistent with being left of center at the time of impact.

Based on the evidence, Harte was cited for driving left of center.

No serious injuries were reported.
