Calvary Christian recently announced its seniors of the month.
Name: Lucy Jarvis
Parents: Phil and Susie Jarvis
School activities and awards: NHS, ASB vice president, YLA, Key Club, volleyball.
If I were principal for a day: I can be pretty indecisive, but I would say I’d have a community work day. Kids love getting out of class and it’s an incredible outreach to people.
Favorite school memory: Getting up a bit earlier almost every week to go get coffee with my people before school starts. Even better, we’d listen to music in the parking lot.
People who have inspired me: There are many people I could list, but one is Barb Witt, my children’s pastor, and Courtney Turner, my youth leader.
Lately, I have been reading: Lots of scholarship applications and the well-known book, “Pride and Prejudice.”
My advice to parents: Always encourage your kids. Life can be crazy and we are all trying to figure it out one step at a time.
My favorite scripture verse: Mark 16:15 “He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
Next year: I will be attending college and going into film production and a minor in ministry.
What I’m looking forward to after high school: I’m looking forward to getting to see all the opportunities out there and getting to see where I’ll end up in life and where God is going to take me. There are endless opportunities!
What I will miss the most: I’m 100% going to miss my people. Getting to spend so much of my life with all of them, it’s going to be hard to leave.
Name: Gabe Salmonowicz
Parents: David and Jean Salmonowicz.
School activities and awards: Varsity soccer, JV basketball, track, NHS, Key Club, FCA, YLA, theater, and Class Vice President.
If I were principal for a day: I would add a field day for every month of the school year.
Favorite school memory: The class parties at the end of the school year. We had a very competitive game of “Throw Throw Burrito.”
People who have inspired me: My older siblings.
Lately, I have been reading: “The Silmarillion” by J.R.R. Tolkien, and the “Hunger Games” series.
My advice to parents: Encourage your kids to try new activities. Push them in everything but acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses.
My favorite scripture verse: 1 Corinthians 9:24 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.”
Next year: I will be attending the Franciscan University of Steubenville pursuing a degree in psychology.
What I’m looking forward to after high school: The new community I’ll be in at college.
What I will miss the most: I’ll miss my family and friends as well as my routine.
