The 2025 Logan County Junior Fair Horse Show opened Monday with a full slate of halter, showmanship, and trail-in-hand classes.
Youth exhibitors from across the county brought their horses, ponies, and minis to the show ring, showcasing months of training and dedication.
Halter Classes began the day with multiple divisions.
Alaina Baughman took first in the Weanling & Yearling Halter class with her animal Lucy.
Savannah Yoder and Sheza Golden Lady won the All Mare Halter class, followed by Morgan Klingelhofer in second and Alice Luthman in third.
In All Geldings Halter, Emmery Howell claimed first with Bonanza Te, Lauren VanWinkle placed second with Jack, and Courtney Hart came in third with Heza Fancee Pistol.
The All Mini class (under 38”) was led by Elijah Baughman with Sparkles, Madeline Nessler with HMM Buck O’Cloud Nine in third, and Lillian Strauser with Dora in second.
Showmanship classes were highly competitive across age groups and skill levels:
- In Advanced Western Showmanship (14–19), Hayden Yoder took first with Just Another Zippo.
- Advanced Western Showmanship (8–13) went to Emmery Howell with Bonanza Te.
- Advanced Ranch Showmanship (14–19) was won by Sadie Staats and Full Throttle Fiat, followed by Madeline Nessler in second, Elijah Baughman third, Lauren VanWinkle fourth, and Emily LeVan fifth.
- Advanced Ranch Showmanship (8–13) saw Emma Pope take first with Whiskey and Savannah Yoder second with Sheza Golden Lady.
- Novice Western/Ranch Showmanship (limited to 1–3 years of experience) was led by Allison Robinson and CNF Holly’s Lena Cody 86, with Olivia Green second and KaiaLynn Purk third.
- In Mini Showmanship (14–19), Madeline Nessler took first, Lillian Strauser second, and Elijah Baughman third.
- Mini Showmanship (8–13) was won by Savannah Yoder with DF Peppermint Twist.
- Pony Showmanship (14–19) saw Audra Harford take top honors with Bilbo, followed by Lillian Strauser in second and Alice Luthman third.
- Pony Showmanship (8–13) went to Savannah Yoder.
- Advanced English Showmanship (14–19) was won by Sadie Staats, followed by Lauren VanWinkle, Courtney Hart, Adelia Grant, and Emily LeVan.
- Advanced English Showmanship (8–13) placed Emmery Howell first and Savannah Yoder second.
Trail in Hand Classes tested handler precision and animal control:
- In Trail in Hand (14–19), Sadie Staats placed first with Full Throttle Fiat, followed by Alaina Baughman second, Madeline Nessler third, and Olivia Green fourth.
- Trail in Hand (8–13) was won by Savannah Yoder.
- The Mini Trail in Hand division was led by Madeline Nessler, with Lillian Strauser in second, Elijah Baughman third, and Savannah Yoder fourth.
- Trail (8–13) was won by Emmery Howell with Bonanza Te.
- Ranch Trail (14–19) saw Sadie Staats take another first-place finish, with Courtney Hart second, Emily LeVan third, Olivia Green fourth, and Madeline Nessler fifth.
- Ranch Trail (8–13) went to Emma Pope with Whiskey.
The day concluded with the announcement of the 2025 Showmanship Champions:
- Horse Champion Showman: Emmery Howell
- Horse Reserve Champion: Olivia Green
- Pony Champion Showman: Sadie Staats
- Pony Reserve Champion: Audra Harford
- Mini Champion Showman: Madeline Nessler
