K9 Pyro played a key role in a Bellefontaine drug arrest last Thursday.

Shortly after 7:00 PM, Bellefontaine Police officers saw a white Honda Accord with window tint darker than Ohio’s legal limit traveling northbound on South Main Street near Gunntown Road.

Officers stopped the vehicle at the Kroger Gas Station parking lot.

The driver, Jessie Stevens, 40, of Belle Center, and passenger Cedric Williams, 36, of Bellefontaine, were inside the vehicle.

Both had outstanding felony warrants—Stevens for trafficking fentanyl and Williams for trafficking crack cocaine—and were taken into custody.

Stevens initially denied consent to search the vehicle, prompting officers to deploy K9 Pyro.

Pyro gave a positive alert for narcotics, leading to a probable cause search.

Officers discovered:

  • A prescription bottle containing marijuana with white residue
  • Suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl
  • Multiple used syringes and drug paraphernalia
  • Three cell phones

All contraband was located within areas accessible to both Stevens and Williams.

Both were transported to the Logan County Jail.

Stevens faces additional charges of possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and drug abuse instruments, while Williams was charged with possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Field tests confirmed the suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.
