The Bellefontaine Police Department is reflecting on a busy year in 2025, reporting a total of 19,504 calls for service throughout the year.
According to department statistics, officers filed 1,725 incident reports and made 666 arrests, including 137 felony charges and 24 OVI arrests. In addition, officers issued 1,606 citations.
Police Chief Chris Marlow said the numbers highlight both the department’s dedication to public safety and the growing demands of serving the community.
“2025 was a busy year for our officers, but we remain committed to keeping Bellefontaine safe,” Chief Marlow said. “These numbers show the wide range of work our team handles every day.”
The department’s current staffing levels include:
- Patrol: 19 officers
- DARE/SRO: 2 full-time officers, plus 1 part-time
- Detectives: 3 (two case detectives and one narcotics detective)
- Dispatch: 6 police dispatchers
Chief Marlow described the staffing level as “just enough to function.”
The Bellefontaine Police Department continues to encourage residents to report suspicious activity, practice safety measures, and stay engaged with local law enforcement programs as part of a shared effort to keep the community safe.
