Cornerstone Church in Huntsville rolled out the red carpet for the arrival of several area Kings and Queens for the annual Night to Shine Prom on Friday night. Night to Shine, a nationwide initiative sponsored in part by the Tim Tebow Foundation, is an annual event for area residents with special needs and developmental disabilities.

At this year’s prom, and after an appearance by Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow via satellite, over 150 Kings and Queens were crowned in a special ceremony, followed by dancing to music provided by Sound Entertainment.

Cornerstone Pastor Bryan Meadows said it takes an army of volunteers to host the event each year, but people and organizations continue to step up. He talks about Night to Shine:

The evening began with each attendee receiving a name tag and pairing up with their Buddy, who acted as a chaperone for each guest. Guests were given a boutonniere or corsage, could have their pictures taken in a photo booth, participate in crafts, and have a catered meal. Guests could also enjoy a limo ride, karaoke, and hair and make-up stations.

From the Night to Shine website, “Through the years, we have truly seen this event transform into a movement of the Holy Spirit through churches, honored guests, volunteers, and supporters, all seeking to give glory to God by celebrating and advocating for people with disabilities and the value of life.
