Kneisley and Burnside recognized for their service

Lakeview resident Danny Kneisley and Huntsville resident Rodney Burnside were recognized by the Logan County Commissioners in a ceremony on Tuesday afternoon. Kneisley received the American flag that had flown over the Logan County courthouse in January of this year, while Burnside received the flag from February.

Kneisley, a Kenton native, served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1971. During his time on active duty, he received several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

He was accompanied by his wife, Barbara.

Kneisley talks about being honored: 

Burnside, a native of Huntsville, graduated from Indian Lake High School in 1969. He served on active duty in the United States Army from 1970 to 1971 and was promoted to Sergeant. His awards and commendations include the US-Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge.

Burnside was accompanied by his wife Peggy, daughter Rhonda McGraw, son-in-law Brian McGraw, and longtime friends Lee and Bonnie Wallace.

Both men also received special commemorative pins in honor of America’s 250th Birthday this July.
