Area high school and middle school basketball teams were in action over the weekend.
Varsity girls:
Bellefontaine beat Rutherford B. Hayes 59-48.
Quinlan Zedeker recorded 27 points, 3 assists, and 4 steals, Tiffany Boop tallied 14 points, 7 boards, and 6 steals, Alexza Clifton added 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals, and Lexi Robinson and Parker Penhorwood both chipped in with 6 points.
Bellefontaine improves to 13-9.
The Lady Chiefs will open up tournament action Thursday against Tippecanoe at Tecumseh. Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m.
Calvary Christian lost to Ada 51-27.
Hannah Marlow had 13 points and 6 rebounds. Abigail Reinhard added 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals, Madhuri Cook chipped in 3 points, KayLee Hurley scored 2 points, and Anna Kratz netted 2 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lady Spartans are 8-2 overall.
Calvary fell in the JV 25-6.
Megan Palmer scored 4 and Nora Thornton had 2.
Indian Lake lost to Jackson Center 39-34.
Stephanie Altstaetter paced the Lady Lakers with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Allison Kinney added 8 points and 7 assists. Kinney also hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 34 with under 2 minutes to play.
Indian Lake will host Lima Senior Monday. It’s an added game due to Springfield Shawnee canceling earlier in January.
Riverside defeated Fairlawn 43-34.
Emma Saylor recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, Avery Perk netted 9 points and had 5 steals, Jade Copas tallied 8 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, and 4 steals, and Kaylee Fulkerson scored 7 points with 5 steals.
There was no JV game.
Triad lost to Southeastern 60-41.
Abbey Overfield had a double-double, with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and she had 3 steals. Emma Ferguson added 7 points and 4 assists. Mia LeMay had 6.
Triad falls to 3-18 (2-14 OHC).
The Lady Cardinals lost the JV game 44-18.
Gracie Martin had 12 points, Bre Parsons pulled down 6 rebounds, and Lilli Fitak grabbed 5 boards.
West Liberty-Salem fell to Fairbanks 44-33.
Bailey Poppe had 9 in the effort. Chaley Wade added 8, Ava Astroino pitched in 6, and Lilly Weaver and Megan Hollar each scored 5.
The Lady Tigers are now 12-10 (10-6 OHC)
West Liberty-Salem won the JV game 28-19.
Ava Johnson had 6 and Briley Sullivan and Audrey Collins had 5 apiece.
Fairbanks won the freshman game 35-23.
Ava Poppe scored 6 in the loss.

Calvary Christian defeated Wellington 46-42 Friday night.
Ezra Davie recorded 26 points and 5 rebounds, Wyatt Schlatter added 7 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals, and Evan Patton also had 7 points along with 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
Phillip Davie pitched in 3 points and 3 boards, Ephraim Daniels tallied 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, Kaden Downey pitched in 2 assists, 1 point, and 1 rebound, and Charles Krumm had 4 rebounds.
The Spartans will be back on the road against North Baltimore Tuesday at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, Riverside lost to Fairlawn 57-45.
Myles Platfoot had 12 points and 8 rebounds in the loss. Gavin Orsborne pitched in 10 points and 2 assists and Ayden Clary recorded 7 points, 8 boards, and 3 assists.
The Pirate JV team won 59-35.
Reese Jenkins led with 12 points and 2 blocks, Nate Copas chipped in 11 points and 5 boards, Damien Smith scored 7 points and pulled down 6 rebounds, and Gavin Robinson had 7 points and 3 steals.
Riverside also won the freshman game 45-38.
Hayden Sanford scored 18 while Damien Smith had 13.
Middle School:
The Bellefontaine 8th-grade girls lost to London 37-23 in the CBC title game.
Presley Vigansky tallied 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Emma Whitaker had 6 points and 7 boards, Hailee Lamb scored 5, and Grace Brown recorded 2 points and 10 rebounds.
Paige Smith also hauled in 7 boards.
Sophia Jacobs, Hannah Wilson, and Alivia Wage added good minutes on the court as well.
The 8th-grade Lady Chieftains finish the season 14-5.
The Bellefontaine 7th-grade boys defeated Northwestern 40-22.
Grady Graham scored 12 points, Reign St. Clair had 8 points and Sam Jenkins added 7 points.
Bellefontaine improves to 10-7 on the season and will play at Urbana in the second round on Monday.
The Chieftain 8th-grade boys ran past Shawnee 52-18.
Jordan Reed led with 16 and AJ Conaway had 14.
Bellefontaine is back in action Monday for their second-round game at Urbana. Tip time will be at 6:30.
The West Liberty Salem 7th-grade girls defeated Fairbanks in the OHC North Championship game 28-22.
Arianna Weaver had 13, Addi Wallen chipped in with 8, Ellery Wygal added 4, Nevaeh Gravely scored 2, and Isla Leichty tossed in a point.
The Lady Tigers finished the season 17-0 season.
