Lakeview man gets 6th OVI

A Lakeview man got his 6th OVI Tuesday evening just after 7:30.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a reckless op complaint about a vehicle traveling south on State Route 117 that could not stay in the lane.

Deputies located the suspect vehicle and began to follow it.

The vehicle turned left onto County Road 37 and then right onto Route 33.

Authorities observed the driver travel over the white fog line multiple times and a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver, identified as William Keller, 47, told deputies he was on his way to a friend’s house.

Authorities observed Keller’s eyes to be red and glassy, and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected in the vehicle.

Keller denied drinking.

He consented to field sobriety tests and failed.

Keller was placed under arrest for OVI and was transported to the Logan County Jail.

At the jail, he refused a breath test.

Keller was cited for OVI, OVI refusal, and marked lanes.

He had five prior OVI convictions in 1997, 2000, 2002, 2007, and 2015.

Keller was released to a sober driver.

The report was sent to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for their review.

Putting him in prison (and I think they do after so many OVIs) isn’t going to get it. The courts need to start forcing treatment on these ppl because there is no rehabilitation in the corrections and “rehabilitation”.

I agree with you…but there is no rehabilitation facilities in this county…no detoxes, nothing at all…the only way this community looks at addicts and alcoholics is to just let them die and forget them…it’s sickening!! Not even TCN or Community Health and wellness is even trying to put in a place for rehab, or detox…because TCN has the Christopher House…and community health and wellness well just “can’t do it”

You can’t force treatment on people, it won’t work unless they want to change.

They best have proof that he drove over the fog line and not just drove on it or touched it. Driving on or touching it does not constitute a pullover.

Tomas….Look it up about driving on fog line in Ohio. And before you start calling names do some research. You may just learn something that will keep your a** from getting a ticket.

Random, I called no one a name, nor did I say one word about a fog line. Seems to me you’re the one that needs to learn some reading comprehension.

This man deserved to go straight to jail you can’t continue to let him endanger the public by driving drunk. I have no compassion for someone who now has been arrested 6 times for drunk driving. I lost a cousin to a drunk driver and no other family deserves to go thru that.

Alcoholism is a disease. Can be fatal if not put in remission. Alcohol/drug counselors can only do so much. The person with the drinking problem has to want to change. Consequences can lead to sobriety, however, I did not read that this person even had a license to drive a car nor was he charged with no operator’s license. Usually with that many OVI’s, the license is taken away for life. I don’t think this guy has suffered enough consequences. I agree with Caleb. This guy needs some long term jail time.

Here an Logan county it’s all about favoritism with the judge….I had 2 duis about 8 years ago an haven’t drank since. But when I got them, I got 10 days in jail for the first one and 5 months in jail for the second one. While I sat in jail I watched multiple people come in with there 4-5th dui charge an have less time to serve and less fines than me. The more u go in front of the judge, the less time u get. But if u take a year or two in between charges, I get hammered. I am also the only person in Logan county to do 6 months on a contempt charge for misdemeanor driving without a license. All because I left state while covid had courts shut down, to work for the winter. Get a call while Im 7 hours away with no vehicle telling me I got court in 4 days. I was honest an told them I wouldnt make it. Come back to Ohio an dealt with it ….got called a liar and told I never left, I was just hiding out an got maxed out based on the judges imagination and dislike for me. There is no consistency with Anne Beck an she needs to retire. She has been in there so long she has pretty much built a relationship with all the repeat offenders. An she sentences people based on that relationship in alot of cases. I’ve seen it happen more times than I can remember. They need to get someone new in there. Cuz court is no longer fair….it’s biased an u get sentenced based on things u might of done 10 years ago an the judge holds a grudge. Everything is personal with beck….most people expect to fight there case. When I got in trouble I got maxed out no matter how guilty or innocent I was.
