Edward Langley was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison following his conviction on multiple charges stemming from crimes committed in the aftermath of the March 2024 tornado that struck Lakeview.

Langley, 38, was convicted of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a felony of the second degree, and seven counts of breaking and entering, all felonies of the fifth degree.

According to authorities, Langley targeted storage units in the area, cutting locks and stealing property in the wake of the disaster.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge Kevin P. Braig condemned Langley’s actions, calling them “looting” and “repulsive.”

Prosecutor Eric Stewart and defense attorney Ralph Bauer, of Sidney, Ohio, jointly recommended the five-year sentence, which was adopted by Judge Braig.

The criminal acts took place in the chaotic aftermath of the tornado, which left significant damage to the Lakeview area.
