Caleb Larson and Kaylee Powell are the March Seniors of the Month at West Liberty-Salem High School.
Caleb Larson is the son of Kirk and Tara Larson.
School Activities and Awards: Spanish Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, Chess Club, Student Helper, Cross Country (3x Academic All Ohioian, 2x All Ohioian, 2x OHC runner of the year, and 3x OHC first team 1x OHC Honorable Mention), Track and Field (1x Academic All Ohioian, 1x All Ohioian, and OHC and School Record Holder), and Indoor Track (1x All Ohioian).
If I were principal for a day: I would take the high school body on a field trip.
Favorite school memory: My Favorite school memory was After Prom at the school.
People who have been an inspiration to me include: My Parents, My Coaches, and my friends.
Because: All three groups have helped me accomplish my goals and have had a positive influence about my future. My Parents and Coaches have been my role models through life and have helped me mature further.
Lately, I have been reading: Consistency is Key by Jay Johnson
My advice to parents: My Advice to parents is to let their kids live and do not push what they think on them. Let them do their own things, but still support them through anything, that’s what parents are supposed to do.
My biggest regret: My biggest regret is not taking schoolwork and sports more seriously my freshman and sophomore year.
Next year I will be: Next year I plan to be running at a college and going into Education.
Kaylee Powell is the daughter of Brad & Brandy Powell.
School Activities and Awards: Soccer, FFA, Musical, Student Council, National Honor Society, Link Crew, Book Club, Physics Club, Calculus Club
If I were principal for a day: I would allow everyone to go to the gym or out to the track during homeroom and lunch time so we could have recess.
Favorite school memory: The week before winter break where we decorate the hallways, have spirit week, and play in the volleyball tournament.
People who have been an inspiration to me include: My parents and grandparents
Because: No matter what they take on, they always approach each task with determination and strength. They care deeply about what they do and pursue it with enthusiasm. My parents and grandparents are all great role models who motivate me to do my best.
Lately, I have been reading: The Kite Runner
My advice to parents: Every time you show up for your kids, it means everything. Your kids appreciate it more than you realize, because there is no way they could do it without your help.
My biggest regret: Not taking more art and computer classes, even though I was interested in them.
Next year I will be: Attending Kent State University to major in Architectural Studies.
