A Bellefontaine man was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he was riding a bicycle while highly intoxicated.
According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers stopped a man riding a bike without required front or rear lights around 1:00 a.m. in the 800 block of North Main Street.
The rider, identified as 23-year-old Bikram Singh, was known to officers from a recent incident the night before involving intoxication at his workplace.
Police say they immediately noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.
When questioned, he first denied drinking, then later admitted to having a beer, and later mentioned additional alcohol consumption.
Officers reported that Singh then failed field sobriety tests.
Police said Singh was eventually arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI).
A breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.229, nearly three times the legal limit for driving.
Singh was taken to the Bellefontaine Police Department and later transported to the Logan County Jail.
