After more than four decades serving the Bellefontaine community, Lee’s Comfort Shoes has officially closed its downtown location at 109 North Main Street at the close of 2025.
The family-owned business announced the closure in a New Year’s message, marking the end of a 43-year presence at its longtime home.
In the announcement, the owners reflected on their gratitude for the community’s support and emphasized the role faith has played throughout the store’s history.
Owner Jack Reser said, “God has been faithful every step of the way. While this chapter is ending, we are thankful for the opportunity to have served this community for so many years, we trust in God’s plan for future ways to serve our community.”
Since opening its doors, Lee’s Comfort Shoes has been known for personalized fitting, comfortable footwear, and patient-centered footcare services.
The store built lasting relationships with generations of Logan County residents, becoming a trusted destination for customers seeking both quality products and attentive service.
In reflecting on the store’s history, Reser also spoke about the significance of the Red Goose Shoes brand, which appears in a photo above.
When asked about the goose, he said,
“Red Goose Shoes was our original brand and has been our family calling card of golden customer service, our grandparents’ legacy. Our parents always called for patience and gratitude. There are two remaining in the family when there were originally 4. I have one in my care, and the other is with my brother.”
The Reser family thanked the Bellefontaine community and west central Ohio for decades of support, saying it was an honor to serve.
With the closure of Lee’s Comfort Shoes at the end of 2025, downtown Bellefontaine marks the end of an era for a business deeply rooted in faith, family, and community service.
The Reser family set the example of a kind, caring business that truly cared about everyone who walked through their door, whether they were a purchasing customer or not.
