A man wanted on an active arrest warrant was taken into custody Wednesday night after Bellefontaine Police spotted him walking near Eichholtz Funeral Home.

During the arrest, officers found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in his possession, leading to additional charges.

Around 8:00 p.m., officers saw 48-year-old Damon Lensman walking through an alley next to the funeral home, heading toward North Main Street.

Knowing Lensman had a warrant out for his arrest, officers stopped him.

Lensman followed instructions, stood in front of the patrol car, and was handcuffed.

When asked if he had anything illegal on him, Lensman admitted he had a pipe.

A search of his pockets turned up a pipe containing “chore boy,” a material often used to smoke crack cocaine.

When asked again if he had any drugs, Lensman said he had crack cocaine in a cigarette pack in his pants pocket.

Officers found the pack, which contained two pieces of suspected crack cocaine and three cigarettes.

They also found a small bag with marijuana residue in his coin pocket.

Lensman was taken to the Logan County Jail and booked on his outstanding theft warrant, along with new charges for possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
