The South Bank Bike Path at Indian Lake is now closed as crews begin preparing for the 2025 Light Up the Lake Spectacular, set for Saturday at 10 p.m.
This annual fireworks display, one of the largest events of the summer, is presented by the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Indian Lake Area Visitors Bureau, in coordination with Indian Lake State Park and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The fireworks will be launched from the South Bank of Indian Lake, stretching from Township Road 239 to the western edge of the Village of Russells Point.
The launch site includes the midway parking lot on State Route 366, ODNR property, and the adjacent bike path, extending eastward to Paradise Point.
Portions of the bike path and surrounding grassy areas have been fenced off to create a land-based safety perimeter.
A larger safety zone will be marked by buoys extending into the lake from the south shoreline.
These areas are strictly off-limits to the public during the event.
Multiple agencies will be coordinating traffic and public safety during the event, including the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Township Police Department, and Russells Point Police Department.
Getting around Indian Lake on Saturday
To manage heavy exit traffic after the show, the following restrictions will be in effect:
- At 10:00 p.m., State Route 366 at State Route 235 will be closed to all traffic.
- All traffic on State Route 366 between State Route 235 and Township Road 239 must exit east onto Township Road 239 and then divert either east or west onto U.S. Route 33.
- Access points from U.S. 33 to Main Street—including Sunnyside Avenue, Clermont Street, Lincoln Boulevard, and State Route 708—will be temporarily closed as needed.
- Traffic lights at U.S. 33 intersections with State Route 708 and Township Road 239 will be changed to flashing yellow or manually controlled.
- Access to U.S. 33 from roads east of Russells Point, including County Road 94 toward Huntsville, will remain open.
- Intersections within Russells Point will be closed to prevent gridlock.
- Old Field Beach traffic will be right-turn only following the show.
- Southbound motorists on State Route 235 approaching Van Horn’s Curve must continue straight onto State Route 366 toward U.S. 33.
- No left turns will be permitted from southbound State Route 235; all traffic must go east or west on U.S. 33.
- Access to Lakeview from southbound State Route 235 and U.S. 33 will be restricted.
- Motorists leaving Lakeview will not be permitted to access U.S. 33 via the State Route 235 intersection.
Drivers are asked to be patient and to follow the directions of law enforcement officers at all intersections.
Using turn signals and maintaining awareness will help ease congestion and ensure a smooth exit for all attendees.
