On Tuesday, the West Liberty Lions Club, in collaboration with the Village of West Liberty, celebrated the groundbreaking of a new ADA-compliant restroom facility at Lions Park.
This new facility will replace the outdated restroom near the park’s quarter midget racetrack, improving accessibility for all park visitors.
The upgraded restroom will feature a universal adult changing table—the only one within a 50-mile radius—providing an essential service for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers.
This addition is expected to enhance the park’s inclusivity.
Funding for the project has been provided by several key partners, including the Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the Champaign County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the United Way of Logan County, Lions International Community Impact Fund, the Mary Eleanor Morris Fund of the Columbus Foundation, private donations to the West Liberty Lions Foundation, and fundraising efforts by the West Liberty Lions Club.
The new restroom is expected to be completed by spring 2025.
