Born and raised in Ohio, Eli Yoder grew up in an Old-Order Amish community in Hardin County, where strict traditions governed every aspect of daily life.
At just 18 years old, Eli made the difficult decision to leave the ultra-conservative community after facing condemnation for something as simple as riding a bicycle—an experience he says symbolized the deeper spiritual and personal oppression he endured.
That departure marked the beginning of a life-changing journey, one that ultimately led Yoder to what he describes as true freedom found through the Bible and salvation in Jesus Christ.
He wears many hats—preacher, truck driver, and social media personality—but is best known online as “the preaching truck driver.”
From the cab of his semi, Yoder shares candid, no-nonsense messages about Scripture, faith, and his experiences both inside and outside the Amish community.
His straightforward approach has resonated with thousands across social media platforms.
Yoder regularly supports former Amish as they transition into mainstream society, offering encouragement, guidance, and practical resources to help them navigate life beyond the community.
He also travels to churches around the country, sharing his testimony and speaking openly about freedom from religious legalism and man-made traditions.
Yoder will be appearing locally at Calvary Christian School on February 21st at 6:30 p.m., where he will share his testimony and message of faith and freedom.
He recently joined News Director April King on Listen Up! Sunday morning, sharing more about his journey and how social media has become a powerful platform for spreading his message:
