A local couple — who are Indian Lake alumni — are experiencing swift, sweet success after their products debuted last week on the popular cable shopping network QVC.

2013 Indian Lake High School graduates Nathan and Erika Davis presented their locally-produced honey, known as Nate’s Nectar, last Tuesday afternoon.

Erika did the talking while Nathan watched from behind the scenes.

Hailing from a local farming family, Nathan began Nate’s Nectar in 2016, just after graduating from college.

When they married, Erika joined the business, along with Nathan’s parents and sister.

They gather honey from their own hives and complete production in their specialty kitchen facility in Bloomfield Township.

Nate’s Nectar has been a popular local brand for several years, offering a variety of raw and creamed honey.

Recently, the couple expanded to sell their products at Meijer, Jungle Jim’s, and Giant Eagle stores, as well as through the wholesale platform Faire, which allows mom-and-pop shops across the country to carry their honey.

Erika explained that last summer they participated in the “Fancy Food Show” in New York, where they connected with QVC executives and began the process of appearing on the network.

Nathan and Erika are in talks to return to QVC in the future.

After their television debut, the couple made the long drive home from QVC’s headquarters in West Chester, Pennsylvania, to their home near Lewistown.

They have five children, ages six and under, two of whom are already students at Indian Lake Elementary School.

Nate’s Nectar continues to grow while keeping its roots local, showing that with dedication — and a little sweetness — even a small-town business can have a big impact.
