Three deer processing facilities in Logan County have been honored by the Ohio Division of Wildlife for their significant contributions to deer herd management.
Buckcreek Taxidermy and Deer Processing, Fairview Custom Meats, and King’s Deer Processing received certificates of appreciation for their ongoing support.
These processors play a crucial role in assisting the Division of Wildlife by providing valuable services to hunters and helping biologists collect important data.
This includes samples for disease testing, herd health indicators, and processing deer from the Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) surveillance area in Wyandot, Hardin, Marion, and parts of Allen County.
All three facilities are CWD-certified and authorized to process deer taken from the disease surveillance area.
Pictured at the recognition event are Janet and Cody Lookabaugh from Buckcreek Taxidermy & Deer Processing, Logan County Wildlife Officer Adam Smith, and Wildlife District One Wildlife Management Supervisor Gary Comer.
This acknowledgment highlights the essential partnership between local businesses and wildlife management efforts, ensuring the health and sustainability of Ohio’s deer population.
