Local group keeps up fight against industrial solar

Citizens Against Fountain Point, LLC (CAFP, LLC) is continuing its pushback against the proposed Fountain Point solar development, raising concerns over transparency, local control, and the long-term impact of industrial-scale solar in rural communities.

The group, active in Bokescreek Township, says the permitting process has favored large developers over residents and that community voices are being drowned out by political and financial interests.

CAFP has taken issue with statements from the Ohio Power Siting Board, where officials have cited support from elected representatives as a reason for advancing the project.

The group argues this signals bias and undermines public trust.

Group leaders say that without taxpayer subsidies and political backing, projects like Fountain Point wouldn’t be financially viable.

“Big solar is being propped up by your tax dollars,” Kara Slonecker added. “And rural communities are left with the consequences.”

The group continues to raise funds to help cover legal costs associated with the project.

Money raised beyond legal expenses will go toward supporting local agriculture and land conservation projects.
