A local man, identified as 28-year-old Marcus Cobb, was arrested on Sunday, following a chaotic series of events that unfolded in the 400 block of Colton Avenue and nearby streets.

The incident began when Cobb called 911, claiming he was being chased by a man with a gun.

Bellefontaine Police responded, but initial attempts to contact Cobb at a friend’s residence were unsuccessful.

While officers patrolled the area, they spoke to a resident who reported seeing a man running in shorts.

Shortly after, officers found Cobb walking casually, appearing unconcerned despite his earlier distress call.

As officers continued their investigation, they received reports of a disturbance involving Cobb and a female victim on East Spring Avenue.

Witnesses stated that Cobb had allegedly taken money from the victim, which prompted a foot chase when officers approached him.

Cobb was apprehended after resisting arrest and allegedly shouting threats at the officers.

During the arrest, officers recovered $580 in cash, believed to be the money taken from the victim.

The victim later confirmed that she just wanted her money back and did not wish to pursue charges against Cobb.

Authorities noted that Cobb appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during the incident, exhibiting slurred speech and other signs of impairment.

Cobb was taken into custody and transported to Logan County Jail, where he is being held on charges related to the incident.

The case has been forwarded to the Bellefontaine Municipal Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
