Christopher Powell, 26, of Bellefontaine, is facing multiple charges following a hit-skip crash on West Sandusky Avenue on Tuesday evening.

Lynzy Manning, 21, of Bellefontaine, reported to police that her vehicle had been struck by another car, which then fled the scene.

Manning told officers that she had been driving westbound on West Sandusky Avenue when another vehicle began following her closely and flashing its brights.

After moving to the left lane to allow the vehicle to pass, the other car crossed into her lane and struck the front left corner of her vehicle.

Manning stopped and was confronted by the driver of the other vehicle, who began arguing with her but did not acknowledge the crash.

A passenger in Manning’s vehicle recorded part of the confrontation on her cell phone.

Manning provided the license plate number of the other vehicle, which led officers to Powell.

He admitted to passing Manning but denied hitting her vehicle.

Officers inspecting Powell’s car saw that the passenger side had been wiped clean, but scratches on the rear bumper were consistent with the damage reported by Manning.

After further investigation and reviewing witness statements, officers determined that Powell’s vehicle had indeed struck Manning’s.

As a result, Powell was cited for improper passing, failure to stop after an accident, and obstructing official business.
