Local Memorial Day Public Observances

There are many local Memorial Day parades and ceremonies that are taking place that you may attend. Below is a list of the communities that are holding public observances.

Belle Center Memorial Day Parade

The Belle Center American Legion Post 266 will be hosting a Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Memorial Building.

There will be a service at the graveyard following the parade.

 

Bellefontaine Memorial Day Parade

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. with floats and entries lining up at 8 a.m. Monday, May 29.

The parade route starts at Colton Avenue, then heads to Main Street, Sandusky Avenue, Hayes Street, and ends at the Bellefontaine Cemetery.

The ceremony at the cemetery starts between 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m., followed by a cookout at the American Legion Harold Kerr Post 173.

The guest speaker is Larry Lattimore, a Marine Corps Veteran. Robert Walker is the master of ceremonies.

 

Annual Amvets Post 39 Memorial Day Parade

Join us in Downtown Lakeview for the Annual Amvets Post 39 Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The parade line-up is at Emil Davis Park beginning at 10 a.m. The parade starts at 11:00 a.m. and runs from State Route 720 to State Route 235 and thru Downtown Lakeview.

Following the parade, a memorial service is conducted in the Amvets parking lot.

The Indian Lake High School Marching Band will perform.

Huntsville Memorial Day Service

A service will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, May 28 at the Huntsville Presbyterian Church.

Pastors Ben Beres and Bryan Meadows will lead the service.

The guest speaker is Logan County Commissioner, Mike Yoder.

 

Perry Township Memorial Day Ceremony

Being conducted at the East Liberty Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 29.

 

Rushsylvania Memorial Day Celebration

The Rushsylvania Memorial Day Celebration is sponsored by the Rushsylvania Lions Club at 9 a.m. at the Village Park on Monday, May 29. Please bring lawn chairs.

The master of ceremonies will be Lions President John Bayliss and the featured speaker will be Vietnam Navy Veteran Rex Sullinger.

Mike Doss and Will Ricketts will also speak to tell the history of our local heroes.

The Benjamin Logan Middle School Band will perform patriotic musical selections and an honor guard will perform a 21-gun salute.

 

West Liberty’s Memorial Day Parade

The Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony starts at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 29.

The parade starts at the old high school and ends at the Town Hall.

There will be a ceremony to follow including a high school band, a 21-gun salute, “Taps”, and a benediction provided by a local pastor.

 

West Mansfield Memorial Day Service

American Legion Post 603 invites you to the 2023 Memorial Day Service at the West Mansfield Conservation Clubhouse from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Monday, May 29.

There will be music by the Community Choir, Little Miss Poppy – Emarie Carpenter and Olive Culp, Tom Huffman, U.S. Navy (retired) as the speaker, and much more.

 

Zane Township Memorial Day Parade

The 83rd Annual Zane Township Memorial Day Parade, in Middleburg, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 29.

Line-up begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Township Building on the corner of County Roads 152 and 153 and will proceed to the cemetery for the Memorial Day Ceremony.

Prizes are awarded for the best costume, the best-decorated bike, ATV, Garden Tractor or go-cart, and float.

All Zane Township Veterans are invited to ride on the Veterans Float in the parade.

The guest speaker will be Bob Fawcett.
