Thursday afternoon, Logan County Commissioners Joe Antram and Mike Yoder honored Navy Veteran James Woodard for his service.

Mr. Woodard served from 1963 to 1966, primarily as the barber aboard his ships.

He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and was stationed in Boston, Massachusetts, during his time in the Navy.

Watch the ceremony:

Woodard grew up in Columbus and later moved to Logan County.

He graduated from Columbus Central High School.

His brother, Danny Woodard, who is also a veteran, was present at the ceremony to support him.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Commissioners presented Mr. Woodard with the flag that had flown above the Courthouse in November.

Thank you, Mr. Woodard, for your service and sacrifice to our country.
