Communities throughout Logan County came together on Monday to observe Memorial Day and pay tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in military service to the United States.
Residents from the City of Bellefontaine and the villages of East Liberty, Rushsylvania, Belle Center, DeGraff, Quincy, and Lakeview participated in a variety of events, including parades, flag ceremonies, and moments of silence held at local cemeteries and veterans memorials.

In Bellefontaine, the day began with a community parade featuring local veterans’ groups, marching bands, and civic organizations, followed by a solemn ceremony at the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Similar observances took place across the county, with each community honoring its own local heroes in heartfelt tributes.
Volunteers placed American flags on the graves of veterans, and many residents gathered with family and neighbors to reflect on the sacrifices made by service members throughout the nation’s history.
While Memorial Day also marked the unofficial start of summer for many, with cookouts and public gatherings taking place across the county, the central focus remained on remembrance and gratitude.
