This afternoon, Judge Kevin Braig of the Logan County Common Pleas Court conducted the preliminary hearing for the potential removal of Lakeview Mayor Elaine Fagan-Moore from office.

The mayor has opted for a bench trial, foregoing a jury trial. The trial is slated to run from December 2 to December 6, 2024.

Molly Davis, the attorney representing Mayor Fagan-Moore, chose not to make any statements following the hearing.

Ella Shoffstall, a signatory involved in the case, addressed the media after the proceedings, asserting, “Elaine Fagan-Moore’s removal hearing started today. The mayor chose to skip a jury trial, but we made sure all filings will be available online for everyone to see. Transparency has been lacking under her administration, and we’re confident this trial will lead to her removal. We trust the legal system to do what’s right.”

The case has garnered significant public interest, and the availability of court filings online aims to ensure transparency throughout the judicial process.
