A Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy is facing serious charges after a reported domestic violence incident Tuesday night.

29-year-old John Puckett, of Kenton, was arrested and booked into the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion shortly before midnight.

He is charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint.

Puckett’s wife reported to police that he blocked her from leaving their home during an argument and hit her arms, knocking items out of her hands.

She was able to message law enforcement for help using her Apple Watch to report the incident.

He was taken into custody and denied the allegations, telling officers that he and his wife had just gotten into an argument and he punched a mirror in their home.

The incident remains under investigation.

Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds confirmed that Puckett is being placed on administrative leave while the case is under review.

An internal investigation by the sheriff’s office is also underway.

“This is a serious situation,” Sheriff Dodds said. “We’re cooperating fully and will let the process play out.”
