Sunday, local emergency services professionals and agencies from Logan County were honored at the 2025 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Awards Banquet, hosted by Lima Memorial Health System, highlighting outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to the field.

Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department – Volunteer Department of the Year

The Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department was named Volunteer Department of the Year for its outstanding performance in prehospital care, commitment to training, and continued advancements in EMS services and equipment.

The department serves the Village of Huntsville, McArthur Township, and surrounding areas.

Representing the department at the banquet were Firefighter/Paramedic Robby Weikart, Paramedic Jessica Evans, and Emergency Medical Technician Basic Andrea DeCola.

Dave Johns

Dave Johns – Lifetime Achievement Award

Dave Johns received the Lifetime Achievement Award for over 50 years of service in fire and EMS.

Johns began his career in 1974 as a firefighter and emergency medical technician.

He served as EMS Coordinator and later retired as Fire Chief of the BMRT Ambulance District, also serving as Assistant Fire Chief for the Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Throughout his career, Johns has shown unwavering dedication to EMS and has been instrumental in keeping emergency medical services strong in Logan County.

A passionate advocate and long-time member of BMRT, he has also led numerous outreach efforts to promote EMS and fire service careers in the community.

Kevin Bellman

Kevin Bellman – EMS Educator of the Year

Kevin Bellman, a part-time paramedic with Indian Lake EMS Joint Ambulance District, was awarded the EMS Educator of the Year.

Bellman is a full-time Captain with the City of Wapakoneta Fire Department and an experienced EMS instructor.

He also teaches at Apollo Career Center and Rhodes State College in Lima.

Bellman is known for his dedication, professionalism, and depth of knowledge.

His contributions to EMS education have impacted countless students and agencies across the region.
